The Production Department creates the station's weekly news updates, Legal IDs, and PSAs; to join, you'll be able to create one of these! We are constantly brainstorming new ways to incorporate our stations call letters into new IDs to catch people's attention. What's a Legal ID
A legal ID is a short audio segment, typically 15-30 seconds in length, that includes our stations call sign “W.O.N.Y. 90.9 FM Oneonta”.
They can be humorous, music driven, narrative, anything that gets people’s attention and adheres to FCC regulations. The segment plays at the top of every hour to state our station's call sign.
What's a PSA
A PSA (Public Service Announcement) is another short audio segment, usually 15-60 seconds in length, which seeks to increase awareness of a social issue.
These are typically downloaded from foundations and websites like PSAbank.
The production department does not usually make these, however they can be produced to increase awareness of resources on campus such as the counseling center and the food pantry.
